What is the difference between perfumery and aromatherapy?
Perfumery is a work of art through which we blend essential oils together to express a beautiful symphony for your nose. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for the purpose of wellness. Aromatherapists will typically use the same essential oils as perfumers, which they will dilute with other oils such as almond oil or mineral oil. They will choose their essential oils based on the wellness attributes they want to achieve: relax, sooth or energize. For instance, when you have a cold, you may want to rub your chest with a blend of lavender and peppermint on your chest. Alternatively, before a workout, you may want to splash your face with a fresh blend of citrus oils. While perfumers use the same essential oils in their creations, their formula will most likely be more complex. The essential oils will be dissolved in alcohol and their true purpose will be about making you feel beautiful.
